Inventory and retainers

Sorting and moving items, retainers and their inventories, ventures, collectables and the FC chest.

Reading your retainers and chests follows the Reading setting of Items & retainers, which is Allow by default. Everything that moves items or calls a retainer needs Items & retainers changes to be allowed (or set to Ask).

ToolWhat it does
sort_inventoryRuns the game's own /itemsort with your conditions, for bags, armoury, saddlebag or a retainer
move_itemsMoves items like a manual drag between bags, armoury, saddlebag, retainers and the FC chest, whole stacks or part of one, and crystals between your crystals, a retainer's and the FC chest's
move_gilMoves gil between you and a retainer, or the FC chest
get_retainers / get_retainer_inventoriesYour retainers (job, level, gil, venture), and every retainer's items, listings, gear and crystals from the cache
open_retainer / close_retainerOpens a retainer's inventory (or just its menu) at the bell, or closes it
refresh_retainer_inventoriesOpens every retainer (or every one not seen recently) once, to refresh the cache
transfer_retainer_itemsMoves whole stacks from retainer to retainer, from a retainer to your bags or from your bags to a retainer
get_fc_chest / fc_chest_transferWhat the FC chest holds; bulk deposits and withdrawals through FCCH, if installed
find_venturesWhich venture brings an item, which retainer can take it, and every retainer's current venture
assign_ventureSends a retainer (or a free one that can take it) on a venture. If all are busy, it suggests which to recall: quick ventures first, then the long ones.
recall_ventureRecalls a retainer from a running venture, only after you approve it in the game
equip_itemsPuts on gear from your bags or armoury chest, each into its slot, after checking your job and level
dye_itemDyes a piece of gear in a color (channel 1 or 2), with a dye from your bags, through the game's own dye window
retrieve_glamour_itemTakes an item out of your glamour dresser or armoire into your bags, in your inn room
turn_in_collectablesTurns in collectables at a Collectable Appraiser for scrips, taking you there if it knows where one stands (otherwise it asks you to go to one). When the game warns that a trade would go over the scrip cap, it answers No and stops.

Careful by design

  • Every move waits until the game and the server have confirmed the previous one, then pauses. The pause is random, 500 to 800 ms by default, and you can change it in /xivmcp → Modules → Items & retainers.
  • Nothing happens in combat, while crafting or gathering, in trades, cutscenes or zone changes.
  • Equipped gear, currency, crystals and key items cannot be moved.

Submersibles

At the voyage control panel in your FC workshop, your assistant can repair and send out your submersibles, through the panel's own menus.

ToolWhat it does
repair_submersibleRepairs a submersible's worn parts with Magitek Repair Materials (all parts below 100% by default, or below a percentage you give)
recall_submersibleCalls a submersible back from its voyage, as the panel's Recall submersible does: it is back at once, without loot, and the Ceruleum Tanks used for the voyage are not refunded. Then send it out again with deploy_submersible.
collect_submersibleFinishes the voyages of submersibles that are back without sending them out: collects the loot, then shows their rank-ups, the sectors they unlocked and explored, and the sectors each can visit now
deploy_submersibleSends a submersible on a voyage: its last route, or the points you name (up to five, on one sea). Without a name, every submersible that is back goes out on its last route.

Things to ask:

"Send all my submarines out again."

"Collect my submarines and pick the best route for leveling."

"Repair Shark Bait, then send it to the Ivory Shoals, Deep-sea Site 1 and Deep-sea Site 2."

  • Getting there: navigate_to with destination workshop takes you to the panel.
  • Loot first, then the route: a submersible that is back is finalized first, which collects its loot. Only then does the game raise its rank and unlock the sectors it found, so a new route is chosen afterwards: collect_submersible shows what changed, and deploy_submersible checks the route against it too.
  • Repairs before deploying: parts below 20% are repaired first (you can change this, or turn it off). A submersible with a part at 0% can't sail until it is repaired; XIV MCP reports one the game didn't send.
  • Fuel: each voyage uses Ceruleum Tanks from your bags. If you have too few, nothing is sent.
  • Routes: points are given by name, map letter or id; they must be unlocked and within the submersible's rank.

get_submersibles shows each part's condition, the routes and when each submersible returns.

Crystals, gil and the FC chest

None of this needs another plugin:

  • Crystals move as whole stacks between your crystals and a retainer's or the FC chest's, each into the slot of its kind.
  • Part of a stack: give move_items a quantity. The stack is split first, so the bag it comes from needs a free slot.
  • Gil: move_gil deposits or withdraws with the game's own Gil Transfer window: an amount like 15k, 1.5m, 50% or all. For a retainer, you need to be at a summoning bell; for the FC chest, with the chest open. Your rank decides whether you may take gil out of the FC chest.

With FCCH installed, XIV MCP waits until FCCH has finished with the chest before it moves anything there; FCCH may start on its own when the chest opens. fc_chest_transfer uses FCCH for bulk moves, such as depositing all duplicates.

Slots and the order you see

The game's sorting only stores a display order. So get_inventory lists items as you see them, with shown (page and slot in the game) and slot (the physical slot that move_items expects).

Retainers and AutoRetainer

If you use AutoRetainer, XIV MCP holds it back while it uses the bell, and leaves the bell alone while AutoRetainer is busy. See Compatibility.

To have AutoRetainer handle your retainers instead (collect and resend ventures with its own settings), your assistant uses run_autoretainer next to a bell: it opens the bell like you would, without holding AutoRetainer back, and reports when AutoRetainer is done. If AutoRetainer leaves the retainer list open, XIV MCP closes it.
