Plugin management
Turning other plugins on and off, reloading them, and reading and changing their settings.
These tools are in the Plugin management module, which is denied by default, reading included: plugin settings may contain passwords or keys.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_plugins | Installed plugins with internal name, version, load state and flags (module Game data, so reading it is allowed by default even while Plugin management is denied) |
set_plugin_enabled / reload_plugin | Turns a plugin on or off, or reloads it, like the installer's switch |
list_plugin_config_files / get_plugin_config / set_plugin_config | Lists, reads and changes plugin settings by path, with a dry run and type checks |
How settings are changed
Every change asks you in game first, even when Plugin management is set to Allow: enabling or disabling a plugin, reloading one, and changing settings (the approval lists each change). Other plugins can run automation or commands, or protect you, so XIV MCP never changes them without you.
Plugins keep their settings in memory and often save them when they shut down. So set_plugin_config unloads a loaded plugin, writes the change through Dalamud's own file storage, and loads the plugin again.
- The previous file is backed up to
pluginConfigs/XivMcp/backups/<plugin>/(the last 10 per file). - XIV MCP refuses to manage itself.
- Dalamud has no public way to do this, so these tools use its internal plugin manager, like the installer does. They may need an update after Dalamud updates.
