What is XIV MCP?
A Dalamud plugin that lets AI assistants see your game and, when you allow it, act in it.
XIV MCP is a Dalamud plugin for Final Fantasy XIV. It runs a small server inside the game client that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the standard AI apps use to reach tools outside the chat. Once your AI app is connected, you can ask it about your character, and ask it to do things for you in the game.

What you can ask
A few examples of what your assistant can answer or do, depending on what you allow:
- "Which of my jobs are below level 100, and how much experience do they need?"
- "Where are all my Grade 8 Tinctures? Count the ones on my retainers too."
- "What do I need to craft 20 Rarefied Claro Walnut Spinning Wheels, and what am I missing?"
- "Send every free retainer on a quick venture."
- "Put my Iron Ore on the market board, just below the cheapest offer."
- "Which of my submersibles are back? Send them out on the same routes again."
- "Make a route through these three spots and flag each one when I reach the one before."
The full list of tools your assistant can use is in the tools reference.
How it works
The plugin runs a server on your PC. It listens at http://localhost:37521/mcp, answers only requests from your own PC, and needs an access token that it creates on first start.
Your AI app connects to it. In /xivmcp → Connect, most apps are set up with one click. See Connecting your AI app.
You decide what it may do. Most reading is allowed from the start. Tools that act in the game, edit something or go online are denied until you allow them in /xivmcp → Modules, and screenshots ask you first. Your assistant may start background jobs, but every step of a job still needs its own module's permission. See Modules and permissions.
Safe by default
- Only your PC. The server answers on
localhostonly, refuses browser requests from other websites and requires the token. - Reading first. Out of the box, your assistant can look but not touch. Every setting, reading included, is yours to change: allow, ask or deny, per module and per tool.
- You approve the risky moments. Purchases with anything other than gil, recalling a venture and anything you set to Ask wait for your answer in the game; purchases can use a standing approval instead. Every trade with another player asks you, every time. The game's taskbar button flashes while an approval waits.
- You know what leaves your PC. What your assistant sees, and what goes online, is listed in Privacy.
- Other plugins need your consent. Tools from other plugins stay off until you enable them, and XIV MCP checks what each of their calls changed. See Third-party plugins.
Terms of service
Automating game actions is against the FFXIV terms of service. XIV MCP sends the same requests as manual input, but use it at your own risk, and do not share data about other players.
